Meg Talbott Named Volunteer of the Year!
Meg Talbott’s dedication to volunteering for historic preservation pre-dates the formation of the Bosco-Milligan Foundation. In the late 1970s Bill Hawkins recruited Meg and her husband Dave for the Friends of Portland Cast Iron -- they helped him recover a whole collection of cast iron from a pasture near Timber, Oregon where it had been stored. They were also members of the Vista Bridge Light Brigade and raised money for this landmark’s restoration.
With her two-month old daughter in a baby carrier, Meg participated in the sale of Ben and Jerry’s non-building-related-memorabilia at the Jackson Armory. Daughter Paige is now 18 years old.
And then came the Auction! Meg has been involved as co-chair of the Procurement Committee in all fourteen “Riches of a City” Heritage Auctions. During that time, she has found thousands of unique items which helped to raise money to support the ongoing operations of the AHC. Her commitment is one of the key ingredients in every successful Auction.
You can also find Meg in the basement cleaning and preparing artifacts for an exhibit or in the galleries installing exhibits. Many years of special events and exhibit openings have benefited from her organizational abilities and culinary skills.
When the call goes out for volunteer assistance, Meg is right there to help and she works quietly behind the scenes and always gets the job done. Thank you, Meg
