In 1984, following the celebrated restoration and reopening of the
historic New Market Theater building, Bill Hawkins, architect and
Foundation Advisor, published a small book on the history of the
theater building (constructed in 1872 at First & Ankeny) and its
environment in Skidmore/Old Town.
Complete with a history of the 19th century theater operation, floor plans and photos, the book ends with the restoration of one of Portland's most important historic structures. 64 pages.
