LGBTQ+ Exhibit Fundraiser

Preservationists come in all colors, shapes, sizes, ages, and orientations.

AHC has a new LGBTQ+ exhibit that will open in July - with your support. We have a $10,000 matching grant from the Ed Cauduro Fund through the Oregon Community Foundation and need your help NOW to raise an additional $20,000 before March 31st! Because of wonderful people like you, we're optimistic that we can get there!

Can you help us now to reach our fundraising goal?

WHY IT MATTERS

Time is of the essence to have the exhibit completed and installed in early July in time for Portland Pride Month. Our exhibit will elevate the important stories of key individuals who helped as early activists for historic preservation, as well as influential buildings/sites they saved or communities created that are culturally and historically significant. We’re grateful for this matching grant from Ed Cauduro, who was a lifelong advocate for the arts and helped fund the Q Center here in Portland. Similarly, the story of our founders Ben & Jerry also highlights a life-long passion for preservation that connected them through work and life partnership.

Ben Milligan and Jerry Bosco’s amazing work was tragically cut short in the late 1980’s due to the HIV epidemic, and the Bosco-Milligan Foundation was formed to carry on their work through education, advocacy, and stewardship of their architectural collection for the benefit of all. Today, we are the stewards of one of the largest architectural artifact collections in the county due to their dedication and commitment.

We’re telling an important story of people and place, and how so many LGBTQ+ members in the community have contributed to supporting preservation and spaces for the queer community in Portland.
