Co-Executive Director Announcement
2026 has brought changes to the AHC but the board and staff are excited to share the amazing projects underway across the city.
This spring we are continuing our archival preservation work around Portland’s Cornerstones Project you can read about it on our blog and kicking off the important work preserving the history of the first female architects in Oregon.
The Advocacy Committee will soon be unveiling a new watch list for endangered buildings in the Portland Metro area, so our supporters know the status of landmarks and ask at-risk buildings in our community.
Our popular Walking Tour series kicked off in March with tours of Mt. Tabor, Skidmore-Old Town, Buckman, and Ladd’s Addition. We are planning to host over 100 tours this year, so keep your eyes peeled for old favorites and some exciting new tours for our roster.
On May 15th we will host our annual Party for Preservation and this year our event will be held at McMenamins Crystal Ballroom! We’re even more thrilled to honor Kim Moreland, a true champion for preserving Portland’s diverse buildings and communities. Join us this year for an evening of libations and celebrations all “For The Love of Portland.”
Leading these efforts will be interim Co-Executive Directors, Claire Blaylock and Norm Gholston who will work in partnership with staff, board, volunteers, and supporters to advance AHC’s mission: empowering people to discover and preserve Portland’s historic and culturally significant places.
Please join us in welcoming Claire and Norm into their new roles and we hope to see you at our events and talks soon!
