There are more than 80,000 homes in Portland that pre-date WWII. The Renovation and Reuse Fair provides helpful information and resources to people renovating these older homes and introduces them to the programs of the non-profit Architectural Heritage Center (AHC). In past years, over 800 people attended and this year is expected to be even bigger and better.
The event, simultaneously occurring inside the AHC and on the street, is FREE to the public. Renovation and Reuse sponsors and exhibitors will connect with potential customers and spotlight your support of home restoration, renovation, preservation and creative reuse solutions!
Number of booths: 30
Number of presentations or demonstrations: 20 - 30
Atmosphere: “fair-like” with balloons, banners/signs, raffles, for a variety of prizes, and exhibits and programs going on in the AHC.
Promotion: PR to Portland area print and broadcast media; AHC web and newsletter articles; electronic and print promotional materials to neighborhood associations, retail locations, AHC corporate members, and at AHC events.
On the Street in the Central Eastside –
SE Alder Street next to the AHC will be closed between SE Grand and MLK, Jr Blvd. (visible to hundreds of drivers). Exhibitor booths will be set up under a large tent. Each individual space will measure approx. 10’x10’ and allow exhibitors to showcase goods and services and distribute information pertaining to old home improvement, research and restoration.
Inside the AHC –
In the two AHC classrooms, local experts in the field of home & building renovation will present short programs or demonstrations. Speakers/demos/lectures will be approximately 20 minutes in length and scheduled every half hour throughout the day.
