Pocket Door Keyhole Escutcheons
This set of pocket door escutcheons are cast bronze and manufactured by the P & F Corbin Company between 1875 and 1885 in New Britain, Connecticut. The escutcheons are in the Eastlake/Gothic Renaissance Revival style. The escutcheons were salvaged by Jerry Bosco and Ben Milligan.
Sir Charles Locke Eastlake | 1836-1906
Charles Locke Eastlake architect and designer was secretary of the Royal Institute of British Architects and keeper of the National Gallery in London. Eastlake wrote the highly influential book: Hints on Household Taste in Furniture, Upholstery and Other Details published in Britain in 1868 and in the United States in 1872. The “Eastlake” style was popular in the 1870’s through the 1890’s
The pattern was used in the Connecticut State Capitol Building that opened in 1879.
